Hustle: good or bad?
Should we stop valuing the constant hustle?
The very first thing my website homepage says is, “Forget the constant hustle.”
(It might not be by the time you read this. I test new phrasings frequently.)
As I think about where I want to take this business, I realize I want to create that kind of cultural change.
I love (well, value) short-term hustle, like when you just have to push through tough work to accomplish something great...house-hunting, pulling together every penny to pay off your student loans, or reaching your very concrete, very realistic business goal for the year. Totally worth it.
Constant hustle, though? No way. That's the hustle that's undefined, with no end goal, so reaching the goal can never be celebrated. It's working 6 or 7 days a week, every week, and telling yourself you can't take your vacation days.
We need a cultural shift in the U.S. (and maybe the Western world?) so we stop valuing the constant hustle.
That's my mission.
